The Ambassador competition is the beginning of a year long leadership program for youth, ages 17 & up. It is an opportunity that focuses on public speaking, interview skills, agriculture awareness and community involvement. Throughout the competition, each contestant will complete an interview (panel of three judges), deliver a speech (topics provided below) and provide an impromptu answer on either a question or an object. At the conclusion of the competition a new Ambassador will be named!
Throughout their year the Ambassador will represent the Stratford and District Agricultural Society, and the Stratford Fall Fair at various events, including parades, market, OAAS convention, dinners, trivia night and more! The Ambassador reign culminates at the Canadian National Exhibition, competing for the opportunity to earn the title of CNE Ambassador of the Fairs, who represent all fairs in Ontario.
The Ambassador will make an endless number of friends across the province, have a chance to network with many people and build relationships with mentors and possible future employers, etc. They will gain confidence in themselves and their abilities to speak publicly throughout the year, along with confidence in their self presentation. The more the Ambassador gets involved throughout their reign, the more they will gain from the experience!
